This class will suit anyone who wants to learn traditional artisanal jewellery skills for the first time, or those would like to add to their existing experience and learn new techniques.
Instruction will be given on how to use jeweller’s tools and equipment and beginners will start off by choosing to make a ring or pendant to test their new skills. Once the basics are in hand, everyone will be encouraged to come up with their own projects, and given help to realise their own ideas. Jacqueline will be on hand to offer design advice and help you to choose suitable materials. The course will be tailored to individual needs, and offers the possibility of trying out a variety of different processes including small-scale sand casting and simple stone setting.
Copper, brass and other non-precious materials will be supplied in class to make your pieces. If you would like to use silver and gemstones, there will be a small stock available which you can purchase. You can also use Jacqueline’s carefully researched list of suppliers to order your own materials.
The class will run from 6pm to 9.00pm for 10 weeks, with a one-week break for half-term on 13th February. There are 5 places available.
